Position: Corporate Finance Analyst / Associate
Reporting to: Investment Managers and Managing Director
EMSA Capital is an investment firm which takes an active role in driving performance improvement initiatives within its investee companies. The Analyst / Associate will work under the guidance of Investment Managers, supervised by the Managing Director. The position is limited to 12 months but may become permanent under certain conditions.
Primary responsibilities:
- Financial procedures, systems, and reporting
– Assist with preparation of budgets and cash flow projections at the Fund level
– Analyze financial statements and prepare variance reports at different levels (operating companies, holding companies, the Fund)
– Review the audited financial statements of the portfolio companies
– Assist with annual audits at the portfolio company level
– Assist / lead the annual audit of the Fund and in Luxembourg (if required) - Revenue and cost controlling within the portfolio companies
– Take active role in managing costs and revenues to the budget
– Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and debts
– Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, prepare periodic variance reports
– Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and recommend solutions to business and financial problems - Valuations
– Compile market information on share prices and corporate performance of comparable companies
– Calculate investment metrics and valuation multiples
– Perform quarterly valuations of portfolio companies
– Perform / update the waterfall proceeds distribution
– Provide year-end valuation materials for auditors (valuation papers, sensitivity analyses and other) - Other
– Prepare regular updates of the financing structures and intra-group transactions
– Coordinate / participate in communication with tax advisers at different levels within the Group
– Active participation in exit processes of the portfolio companies
– Participate in screening new potential transactions
– Prepare and / or review the Non-disclosure Agreements with relevant parties
Education, skills, and requirements:
– University education in finance, economics, or business studies
– At least 2 years’ (5 years’ for associate position) experience in accounting, audit or valuations required
– Accounting qualification or an enrollment in ACCA, CFA program or similar are an advantage
– Advanced Excel and solid PowerPoint skills are required
– Other IT skills are an advantage
– Fluent written and spoken English is a must
– German and CEE language skills are an advantage
– EU work permit required

– Good business acumen combined with good self-organization and ability to meet deadlines
– Independent and self-motivated, able to work in a small team and even remotely

EMSA Capital has been active in CEE since 1992 and has pioneered turnarounds and performance improvement in the region. Our team has more than 75 years of combined investment and interim management experience, of which 50 have been in Central and Eastern Europe.
Currently we are managing our third fund, the CEE Special Situations Fund, with capital of over €93 million.
For this position we offer an annual gross salary of minimum EUR 42.000 which is in accordance with the collective agreement for employees in this sector. The overpayment may be offered, based on education and previous experience.
